Extensive fluid–rock interaction and pressure solution in a UHP fluid pathway recorded by garnetite, Lago di Cignana, Western Alps

This study combines the microstructural and petrological analysis of garnet its inclusions in quartzite-hosted garnetite from ultrahigh-pressure Lago di Cignana metaophiolite (Western Alps). We present a comprehensive record metamorphism, compaction, state stress during interaction between oceanic metasediments infiltrating fluids along major open-system fluid pathway. The arrangement into layers is attributed to concomitant compaction dissolution that resulted formation stylolite. pulses were accommodated by this pathway subsequently several stages deformation, dissolution, local reprecipitation, recrystallization. Abundant evidence for pressure solution garnet, alongside near-hydrostatic hydrostatic conditions indicated elastic strains quartz obtained through Raman spectroscopy, support low differential stresses fluid–rock interaction. high degree recorded showcases strong potential fluid-assisted volume loss mass transfer. Dehydration subducting rocks with subsequent migration resulting slab provides mechanism transfer has drive exert control on pathways.
